Thank you to all those who attended the thrilling family performance of ‘The Magic Flute‘ by Opera North in the Rec on Saturday 17 July. The singing and musicians were superb, soaring over the crowd, the storytelling spell-binding, the dragon terrifying, and the Prince -redeemed, in the end! And as for the weather – perfect for chilled beer and ice-creams, which many enjoyed. We hope you have enjoyed our other performances over the last couple of months; the magnificent SOLD, telling the gruelling story of Mary Prince, who wrote her own memories in 1821; Dinosaur Detectives, who brought to life the fossil finders who discovered British dinosaurs for the first time, and Dan Jackson, talking about his book ‘The Northumbrians’. The Leather Tooling Workshop and Felt Pictures course produced some beautiful, skilful and intricate work by participants. We hope you will continue to enjoy our regular classes, such as Pilates, Zumba and Bootcamp, continuing over the summer. And we look forward to hosting the Isaac’s Tea Trail Extreme Marathon in August, as well as the Leek Show, a Climate Sunday Service, the Folk Festival and the Lions Auction in September – as well as the return of Scouts, Cubs, the Youth Initiative and the Dale Singers to the Hall!
Keep an eye on the calendar, and we hope to SEE YOU THERE!!
We will be maintaining our sanitising and cleaning arrangements to keep the Hall as safe as possible to use. With numbers of cases so high in our area, we will be asking people to continue to follow simple and common-sense precautions in using the Hall;
